Do my friends need the app?

Short answer: no. Your friends don’t have to install Donget to be part of a Group or to see what they owe. Here’s how it works.

Joining without the app

When you share a Group invite link, a friend can open it and join from the web. They’ll be able to:

• See the Group’s Expenses.
• Check their Balances — what they owe and what they’re owed.
• Follow along as new costs are added.

That’s often enough for someone who only needs to keep an eye on their share.

Adding people who aren’t there yet

You don’t even need your friends present to start splitting. Add them as Members by name and include them in any Expense right away:

1. Open the Group and tap Members, then Add member.
2. Enter their name and tap Save.

Donget tracks their Balances from the start. When they later join through your invite link, everything lines up automatically.

Why install the app anyway

Installing Donget is free and unlocks the full experience:

• Realtime sync — see Expenses and Balances update live across the whole Group.
• Free AI receipt scan — snap a receipt and let Donget turn it into an Expense in seconds.
• Faster everyday use — a tap to open, scan a receipt or Settle up.
• Multi-currency — track costs in different currencies on a trip and let Donget total them.

Tip: Suggest the app to whoever pays most often. They’ll get the most from quick Expense adding and receipt scanning — and your Balances stay current for everyone.

The bottom line

Casual Members can join from a link with nothing to install. Active splitters get the smoothest experience by installing Donget — which, like everything in the app, is completely free with no limits.
